8/15/2025 – In 2011, Elmer Campos Álvarez was paralyzed during a peaceful protest against the Conga mine in Peru. After 13 years, a Peruvian court held police commanders civilly liable and ordered reparations.
Our friends at EarthRights International, a nonprofit that provides legal advocacy for land and environmental defenders worldwide, helped expose coordination between the company and police and played a critical role in winning justice for Elmer!
