7/18/2025 – For decades, students in Kashmir have faced barriers to education due to the military presence by India, political repression, school shutdowns, and scarce resources. Organizations like the Kashmir Education Initiative (KEI) have stepped in to fill the gaps, offering scholarships, mentorship, and support to students across the region.
Snober Mehraj is a student living in occupied Kashmir. Once a shy 9th grader, Snober Mehraj is now a confident leader thanks to mentorship and scholarship support from KEI. When her scholarship ended in 2021, she returned as a volunteer, helping others navigate the same obstacles. “Every challenge is an opportunity to transform,” she says about her KEI journey.
