11/1/2025 – For centuries, the Rarámuri have lived as subsistence farmers, relying on the springs, arroyos, and rivers that run through their ancestral lands. But today, their water sources—and their survival—are under threat from logging, development, and climate change. Drought is devastating the canyonlands. That’s why the Rarámuri have identified access to clean water as their greatest need.
With support from our friends at Copper Canyon Alliance, Rarámuri communities are building concrete reservoirs and rainwater catchment systems to sustain their farms and villages.
