Acid Attacks Are a Form of Gender-Based Violence

12/01/2025 – Acid attacks against women and girls are a brutal form of gender-based violence in which perpetrators use corrosive chemicals to cause permanent injury and long-term suffering.These attacks often occur after refusals of marriage, resistance to harassment, or other attempts by victims to assert autonomy. The Chhanv Foundation, a non-profit organization based in India, works with survivors to rebuild their lives by providing long-term medical care, legal support, education, and employment opportunities.
