1/01/2024 – Following the World Food Programme’s (WFP) decision to suspend its food distribution operation in Northern Yemen starting this new year, things have gotten worse for children in Yemen. Before WFP’s announcement, Yemen was already facing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises since the outbreak of the Yemen war between the Saudi-backed government and the Iran-aligned Houthi rebels, who seized the capital Sanaa and large swaths of territory in 2014. Our allies at Yemen Reilef and Reconstruction Foundation (YRRF) are dedicated to continuing to provide needed aid to Northern Yemen, and you can too by donating here.
YRRF provides essential support to those in need, especially children. YRRF cares for approximately 300 orphans, ensuring they have access to basic necessities like food, shelter, education, and healthcare. For nearly a decade, Yemeni children have been robbed of a normal childhood, with millions unable to attend school. Shockingly, 1 in 5 Yemeni children under 5 years old is facing malnutrition.
