Sudan Resistance Committees
The Sudan Resistance Committees are informal grassroots networks of local Sudanese residents. These committees originated in 2013, organizing civil disobedience campaigns against the government of Omar al-Bashir. Over time, they evolved into a significant organized network that played a crucial role in organizing protests during the Sudanese Revolution in 2018-2019. In 2023, in the middle of the conflict between the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces, the resistance committees organized logistical support for medical services and helped evacuate civilians from fighting areas.
A personal donation from CoR director iara lee went to supporting Sudan Resistance Committees and affiliated grassroots institutions, including the Tea Vendors Union in Khartoum, a farmers union south of Khartoum, and a resistance committee in Nyala, Darfur.
