The Jubba Airways Somaliland Marathon welcomes all runners, regardless of sex, creed, color, or national origin and aims to promote sport in Somaliland through the organization of an annual marathon and 10km race in the capital, Hargeysa. As well as encouraging more Somalis to participate in sport, the marathon showcases the hospitable country to visiting foreign athletes. Runners from thirteen countries have participated in the race. This includes runners from the United States, Italy, Ireland, Poland, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Djibouti, Canada, Kenya, and Ethiopia.
A 2019 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported the 2020 Somaliland Marathon.
A 2018 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported the 2019 Somaliland Marathon.
Another 2018 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network went towards covering costs such as t-shirts, medals, trophies, water and feeding stations, medical support, transport, and security for the 2018 Somaliland Marathon.
