Gaza Sunbirds

Gaza Sunbirds is a pro-paracycling project in Gaza that is inspired and run by Alaa al Dali. Alaa is a cycling champion whose leg was destroyed by an Israeli sniper in 2018. Subsequently, he has made a comeback as a para-cyclist. He founded Gaza Sunbirds to help other para-cyclists train in Palestine. Following the extensive military actions by Israel in Gaza after the October 7th Hamas attack, Gaza Sunbirds has organized emergency response efforts, including food and supply distribution.

A 2023 grant by the Cultures of Resistance Network supported Gaza Sunbirds’ emergency response efforts.
