American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA)

ANERA is a leading provider of development, health, education, and employment programs for Palestinian communities and impoverished families throughout the Middle East. Incorporated in 1968 to help ease the suffering of Palestinian refugees after the Arab-Israeli War of 1967, With offices in the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon, and Jordan, Anera is one of the largest American non-profits to have worked solely in the Middle East for more than 40 years.

ANERA helps local institutions become more self-sufficient and effective in serving their communities. Every project is planned in consultation with the communities that ultimately benefit — an approach that ensures relevancy and commitment, and secures the long-term viability of the projects.

A 2012 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported ANERA’s efforts to provide medical supplies and aid to Gaza.

A 2009 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network contributed to ANERA’s support of a series of benefit concerts, LIVE FROM PALESTINE, with the Oriental Music Ensemble of the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music-Palestine. The proceeds supported the Conservatory’s efforts to establish a music school.
