Vostok SOS is a non-governmental organization that works to provide comprehensive assistance to internally displaced persons and to people affected by the military conflict in eastern Ukraine. They were one of the first volunteer initiatives whose activists began to provide assistance to victims of the military aggression in the east of the country and in Crimea. Their work included helping find shelter for internally displaced persons (IDPs), assisting in the evacuation of people from the conflict zone, collecting and distributing humanitarian aid in Kyiv and to front-line settlements, and providing psychological care. They also participated in the search, release and rehabilitation of victims of abductions, monitored and documented human rights violations and reported on the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
