The Autistic Self Advocacy Network is a national grassroots disability rights organization run by and for Autistic Americans, advocating for systems change and empowering the voices of autistic people. Their advocacy work includes campaigning to protect healthcare, promote home/community based services and improve other policies that affect the autistic community. They work to educate communities and improve public perceptions of autism. Their work includes helping to organize the Disability Community Day of Mourning and Autism Acceptance Month. Additionally, in recent years, they have worked on advocating for people with disabilities during the pandemic including providing pandemic related information in accessible formats and. providing at-home toolkits for autism-specific services.
