Instituto Socioambiental (ISA)

Instituto Socioambiental (ISA) is a non-profit private association focused on socio-environmental issues. It works to develop sustainable solutions that also contribute to human rights. Their Uncontacted or Destroyed campaign emphasizes the demand for the renewal of Land Protection Orders of four Indigenous Lands where the presence of isolated indigenous peoples is confirmed, or under study. Land Protection Orders prevent activities within the territories of isolated indigenous peoples before their demarcation processes are finalized. These areas are the target of invasions, deforestation, land grabbing, illegal logging, illegal hunting, and opening of illegal pastures and roads.

A 2022 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported the Uncontacted or Destroyed campaign’s efforts to monitor pressures and threats in these territories and implement advocacy and awareness efforts.
