Navdanya International (via the Center for Food Safety)

Founded in the early 1990s by Dr. Vandana Shiva, Navdanya International engages in policy advocacy, grassroots mobilization, and science-based research. Through projects including seed conservation centers, organic farming programs, technical assistance to farmers, awareness campaigns, and publications, Navdanya champions food justice in India and beyond.

Dr. Vandana Shiva is a pioneering activist, author, and environmental advocate. Trained as a physicist, she later shifted to interdisciplinary research in science, technology, and environmental policy, and has written widely on biodiversity; industrial agriculture and genetically modified crops; globalization; and the relationship between ecology and gender.

A 2014 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported the Seeds of Hope program, which establishes local seed banks and trainings in seed-saving and sustainable agriculture techniques. The program aims to promote widespread food security, especially in regions that have been impacted by major disasters related to climate change and industrial development.

The Center for Food Safety served as a fiscal sponsor for this grant.
