Farm Sanctuary

Founded in 1986, Farm Sanctuary works to change how society views and treats farm animals through rescue, education, and advocacy. The organization provides lifelong care for animals rescued from abuse at its three sanctuary locations in New York and California. It also promotes compassionate vegan living and advocates for legal and policy reforms.

A 2016 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported Farm Sanctuary's rescue work. The grant helped care for farm animals rescued from cruelty, neglect, and abuse. It funded emergency rescue needs (including goods and services required for transport, emergency treatment, and rehabilitation) and costs of ongoing care (including those related to feed, bedding, medical and cleaning supplies, and ongoing veterinary care) that enabled the organization's approximately 1,000 residents to live long, happy lives at the sanctuary.
