6/8/2023 – One looming threat to the underwater ecosystem is deep sea mining. Deep sea mining companies are currently lobbying to go down several thousand meters below the surface of the ocean to plunder the seabed for metals. In a few weeks, governments around the world will meet at the International Seabed Authority (ISA) in Jamaica to decide whether to allow this highly destructive industry to operate.
