12/22/22 — To an albatross, colorful plastic waste bobbing in the sea looks like an easy meal but they can be deadly. Marine plastic debris affects over 44% of seabird species worldwide through entanglement and ingestion. Plastic, nylon, rubber and metal wire have all been found in 29% of black-browed albatross!
These stats come via our Cultures of Resistance Network grantees Birdlife International, a global network of conservation organizations that works to protect birds and their habitats. They are working to prevent these deadly meals by promoting reduced usages of single-use plastic and plastic packaging.
