5/5/2023 – From 2001 to 2019, Guatemala lost 19% of their tree cover! More recently, in the past two years, Guatemala’s Sierre del Lacandón National Park has lost thousands of hectares of forest to squatters who are clearing the rainforest to make room for settlements, roads, and cattle ranching. AIR Guatemala is one of the organizations working on reforestation in the country. They have planted over 7.2 million trees since their founding three decades ago, while their training programs teach local farmers reforestation skills. One of our sister organizations, the L/G foundation, has been proud to support their work!
