10/30/22 — Female genital mutilation (FGM) is a horrifyingly abusive practice and a human rights violation! However, it currently affects more than 200 million women and girls around the world!! That is why one of our sister foundations, the L/G foundation, supports Equality Now as they advance their Global Campaign Against FGM. Recently, their work has included advocating for upholding Kenya’s anti-FGM legislation, taking Mali and Burkina Faso to court for their failure to institute a protective legal framework, and mobilizing strong grassroots movements on social media awareness raising in Egypt and Sudan. Our sister foundation, the Cultures of Resistance Network, has supported their campaign to end sex trafficking in the past.
