The Somaliland Marathon took place a few days ago, with 360 runners participating in 42km and 10km races. Over 50 women ran the 10km race, meaning that more women are taking part than ever before!!
In Somaliland—a self-declared but still internationally unrecognized republic—running is encouraging Somalis to participate in sports across cultural boundaries, while inviting the rest of the world to run alongside them. The first Somaliland Marathon took place at the beginning of 2018 and has become an annual event. Get more information here.
