War Child

Founded in 1993 by filmmakers David Wilson and Bill Leeson, War Child is an international charity that works with children affected by war in Afghanistan, Iraq, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and Syria. It aims to reach children as early as possible when conflict breaks out, and stay on to support them—long after the TV cameras have gone home. War Child works to help keep children safe, give them an education, and equip them with skills for the future.

A 2021 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported War Child’s emergency response efforts in Afghanistan, which included reaching children who were most at risk of abuse, providing cash assistance to restore access to food and medicines, and re-establishing education for children who had their lives torn apart.

A 2020 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported War Child’s programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Yemen.
