Mercy Corps

Mercy Corps is a global community of 4,000 change-makers living and working with people facing the world’s toughest challenges. The organization partners with local people in over forty countries to build stronger communities, put bold ideas into action, and help communities overcome adversity like emergencies, poverty, and conflict. During its thirty-five-year history, Mercy Corps’s work has improved more than 170 million lives in more than 115 countries around the world. Mercy Corps is on the ground working to address the urgent needs of 3.7 million people inside Syria and in neighboring Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, and Turkey. It focuses on protecting the youngest refugees and has created safe spaces and developed constructive activities where they can heal from trauma, build friendships, and develop critical life skills.

A 2015 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported Mercy Corps’s upgrades and repairs to facilities serving the youth population in the Zaatari and Azraq camps. This work ensures that children and adolescents have access to programs that will strengthen their emotional health and development so they are well positioned to rebuild their lives and their country.
