MADRE is an international women’s human rights organization. It partners with community-based women’s groups worldwide that are facing war and disaster. MADRE’s mission is to advance women’s human rights by meeting urgent needs in communities and building lasting solutions to the crises women face. To advance women’s human rights, MADRE partners with grassroots women. Together, they meet basic needs for food, clean water, health care, and more. When local women provide these vital services to their community, they build new skills and step up as leaders. MADRE also trains grassroots women’s groups to advocate for policies based on rights, locally, nationally, and globally.
A 2021 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported MADRE’s Afghan Women’s Fund.
