Aides aux Femmes de Lumata works to support and manage women’s projects in Lumata, Democratic Republic of Congo. It also supports the establishment of an AFIA-based mutual health organization with the goals of social justice and equity in access to health services. The group bases its work on the five community pillars of the health center, the local NGO Le Comité Afro Européen Lumata, the youth ministry, Lumata households, and local authorities.
A 2021 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported Aides aux Femmes de Lumata’s women’s aid project, which aims to increase income-generating activities in the community to support their households and the orphans in their care.
In addition to support from the Cultures of Resistance Network, director iara lee arranged a grant from a partner organization in 2022 which went towards income-generating projects for women.
