IDFA Fund

In 1998 the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) created the IDFA Fund (formerly known as Jan Vrijman Fund) to support filmmakers and festivals in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Its goal is to stimulate local film cultures and to turn the creative documentary into a truly global art. The Fund has supported over 500 documentary projects and documentary festivals and workshops. Documentary filmmakers can apply for development or production and post-production support. Each year, all films that benefit from the fund are presented at the IDFA and other international film festivals worldwide.

Grants from the Cultures of Resistance Network in 2011, 2012, and 2013 helped the IDFA Fund support documentary filmmakers from North-Africa and the Middle-East.
