Grozny Youth Club
37
Originally convened for the purposes of practicing English conversation, the Chechnya-based Grozny Youth Club has grown into a vibrant space for open expression and creative thought. Unfortunately, venues where the club has met – including its recent home at Chechnya’s national library – have asked the group to refrain from discussing themes such as human rights and democracy. Despite these attempts at censorship, the club remains undeterred in seeking out a place where its members may speak freely and without fear.
