The Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counselling (via Donor Direct Action)
The Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counseling (WCLAC) works to promote the social and legal rights of women in Palestine. At the same time, it advocates for the development of a democratic Palestinian state based on the principles of gender equality. Ultimately, WCLAC aims to ensure that promotion of women’s rights helps shape an independent Palestinian state.
WCLAC plays a prominent role, both publicly and privately, in addressing gender-based violence in Palestinian society. Active in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and numerous other Palestinian communities, WCLAC has provided counsel, shelter, and legal aid to thousands of Palestinian women.
A 2023 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network helped WCLAC’s efforts to provide shelter and basic needs to victims of gender-based violence in Palestine.
Grants in 2013 and 2014 from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported general operations and capacity-building at the Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counseling. Donor Direct Action served as fiscal sponsor for this grant.
