Palestine Medical Relief Society (via Grassroots International)

The Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS) is a grassroots, community-based Palestinian health organization. PMRS was founded in 1979 by a group of Palestinian doctors and health professionals seeking to supplement their health infrastructure, which had been degraded by years of Israeli military occupation. The group is non-profit, voluntary, and one of the largest health NGOs in Palestine. PMRS seeks to improve the overall physical, mental, and social well-being of all Palestinians, regardless of race, religion, economic status, or gender. The group’s health services focus on the needs of the most vulnerable members of Palestinian society, particularly women, children, and the disabled living in rural villages, refugee camps, and urban centers.

A grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported PMRS’s humanitarian work in the Gaza Strip. Grassroots International served as a fiscal sponsor for this grant.
