Congolese Initiative for Peace and Justice (ICJP)

The Congolese Initiative for Peace and Justice (ICJP) is an organization that aims to help establish peace in the Democratic Republic of the Congo through protecting human rights and upholding justice. ICJP was founded in November 2002 to strengthen the ability of people on the ground to defend human rights and to promote peace and justice in a nonviolent struggle against impunity.

A grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported the effort to monitor compliance with the Code of Good Behavior, which was signed by the country’s political representatives as a pledge to be respected through the elections in 2011 and 2013. ICJP will focus its efforts in the province of South Kivu, which will serve as a pilot program.
