Home Groups We Support Greenpeace

Greenpeace

Greenpeace is an independent global campaigning organization that acts to change attitudes and behavior, to protect and conserve the environment, and to promote peace. Greenpeace pursues these goals by helping catalyze an energy revolution to address climate change; defending our oceans; protecting the world’s ancient forests; eliminating all nuclear weapons; creating a toxic free future and campaigning for sustainable agriculture.

A 2021 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported Greenpeace’s efforts to stop climate change and protect oceans and forests. The group leveraged emerging opportunities to move away from fossil fuels and push for a transition to a clean energy economy. To safeguard our oceans, it pushed to establish 30 percent of the world’s oceans as protected areas by 2030, bring a halt to deep seabed mining before this emerging industry gains traction, and address the threats posed by disposable plastics. In its forest campaign, Greenpeace prioritized protecting the forests of Indonesia, Africa, and the Amazon.

A 2014 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported Save the Arctic, a Greenpeace campaign to protect the Arctic, principally by preventing oil drilling and industrial fishing in the area.

A 2011 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network helped Greenpeace build the world’s first purpose-built environmental campaigning ship, the Rainbow Warrior.
