Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International

The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International, founded by Dian Fossey in 1978, is dedicated to the conservation and protection of gorillas and their habitats in Africa. The Fund is committed to promoting continued research on the gorillas and their threatened ecosystems as well as to providing education about their relevance to the world in which we live. In collaboration with government agencies and other international partners, the Fund also provides assistance to local communities through education and health initiatives.

A 2011 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported the Gorilla Fund’s “adopt a gorilla” program, helping to ensure that “active conservation” will protect gorillas in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, through daily monitoring and armed anti-poaching patrols.
