Every day, more than 100 Americans are killed with a gun, and more than 230 are shot and wounded. Everytown for Gun Safety was founded in 2015 to address this crisis, and its original goal was simple: build a political counterweight to the gun lobby, powered by a grassroots army that was just as loud and passionate as the NRA. Everytown and its network of Moms and Students Demand Action volunteers has since accumulated more than 8 million supporters—nearly double that of the NRA. That growth allowed Everytown to change the political calculus on gun safety, pass common-sense laws in red, blue, and purple state legislatures, and win landmark cases in courtrooms across the country.
