Escola Nacional Florestan Fernandes (ENFF)
The Escola Nacional Florestan Fernandes (ENFF) is an educational center run by the Landless Workers Movement (Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST)). The Landless Workers Movement is a social movement made up of millions of rural workers in Brazil working towards agricultural reforms and land justice. They are one of the largest social movements in Latin America.
As part of their work, they operate ten educational centers throughout the country which offer programming as well as resources such as libraries. These centers act as schools of political education for militants, privileged for the organization of productive processes and research, in partnership with Universities, Federal and Research Institutes, and also as spaces that facilitate courses for the working class, aiming to resume and strengthen the educational processes and organization of territories to contribute with a political and cultural consciousness elevation of the social movement’s base. ENFF is located in Guararema and was built by thousands of landless worker volunteers and several sponsors from 2000 to 2005.
