Bambini nel Deserto (BND) are people who share a genuine desire to support a better future for children and for their communities of belonging in the developing countries of Africa. Founded in 2000, the organization conducts projects and programs of intervention characterized by direct and concrete actions in the Sahara and Sahel countries. Bambini nel Deserto has carried out more than 450 projects in seven sectors: water, food and food autonomy, health, education and childhood, economic development, migrations, and the environment. BND is a partner of the United Nations in humanitarian emergencies, such as the fight against malnutrition, support for refugees, and the protection of minors.
A 2020 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported Bambini nel Deserto’s Covid-19 relief efforts, including helping women in Burkina Faso produce face masks and hand sanitizer.
A 2018 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported Bambini nel Deserto’s tree-planting project and nursery in Burkina Faso, which works with a women’s cooperative in the area of Nagreongo.
