Amazon Conservation Team (ACT) partners with Indigenous and local communities to protect tropical forests and strengthen traditional culture. ACT works toward three global outcomes, all of which must be achieved to bring about its goals of ecosystem health and community well-being: ecologically and culturally significant lands and resources are protected and sustainably managed by local communities; local communities’ basic needs (food, water, energy) are met, allowing them to live securely and sustainably within their own lands; and local communities achieve self-determination of their society, land, and resources, increasing their cultural resilience.
A 2020 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported ACT’s work.
