AIR Guatemala

AIR Guatemala is a nonprofit improving human and environmental health in Guatemala.  Reforestation efforts led by AIR help to prevent mudslides, improve food security, and ensure water sources in Guatemala. The group has planted at least 7.2 million trees since their founding. AIR technicians are indigenous Maya peoples, with degrees in Agro-forestry and/or environmental studies. The technicians each work in 7 to 10 communities for at least five years, planting trees and training local farmers. They do not leave until the tree nurseries and organic gardens in the relevant areas are sustainable.

A 2023 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported AIR Guatemala’s reforestation efforts.

A 2022 grant from our sister organization, the L/G Foundation, helped AIR Guatemala’s reforestation efforts.
