AIR Guatemala is a nonprofit improving human and environmental health in Guatemala. AIR works on reforestation which helps prevent mudslides, improve food security, and ensure water sources in Guatemala. They have planted at least 7.2 million trees since their founding.
AIR Technicians are themselves indigenous Maya peoples, with degrees in Agro-forestry and/or environmental studies. They work in 7 to 10 communities each, for at least five years, planting trees and training farmers. They do not leave until the tree nurseries and organic gardens are sustainable.
