Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS)

The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) is comprised of medical and non-medical professionals whose mission is to respond to medical, psychological, humanitarian, and educational needs in Syria and the United States. The non-partisan organization strives to provide medical care to the disadvantaged, enhance the medical knowledge and expertise of its members, and contribute to the health care and medical education available in Syria. SAMS mobilized significant resources for medical practitioners in Syria following the start of the civil conflict that began there in March 2011.

The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) is a multi-year grantee.

A 2013 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported the group’s health services work via the SAMS mobile clinic for war-trauma victims and refugees of the current Syrian conflict. Specifically, the grant served to provide much-needed baby formula for children in the Syrian refugee camps in Jordan.

A 2012 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network helped support the Syrian Psychological Support Center (SPSC) in Jordan, which aims to provide health and psychological relief to Syrian refugees.
