350.org

350.org is building a global grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis. The group’s online campaigns, grassroots organizing, and mass public actions are led from the bottom up by thousands of volunteer organizers in over 188 countries. To preserve our planet, scientists tell us we must reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere from its current level to below 350 parts per million. 350.org strives to be a laboratory for the best ways to strengthen the climate movement to achieve this goal and catalyze transformation around the world.

A 2022 grant from our sister organization, the L/G Foundation, supported 350.org’s Pacific Climate Warriors program, Latin America team, and Africa team.  The Latin America team is working on stopping fossil fuel projects by curbing the flow of financing to them and producing documentaries. The Africa team is working on stopping the construction of the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline.

A 2018 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported 350.org’s Pacific Climate Warriors program. The program sent thirty Climate Warriors from twelve different nations on a tour of Australia to see the effects of the fossil fuel industry and to share stories of their climate-affected islands. Along the way, they gathered supporters across many Australian cities and more and more concerned individuals joined the Warriors’ fight to take on the fossil fuel industry.

A grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported 350.org’s work to build off of the climate movement’s victory in delaying a decision on the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry dirty tar sands oil from Alberta to the Gulf of Mexico. 350.org aims to expand that fight and campaign against the extremes of the extractive fossil fuel industry.
