The Citizens Foundation (TCF)

The Citizens Foundation (TCF) supports the building of civil society in Pakistan and promotes gender equality by providing quality scientific and balanced education for underprivileged children. As one of the largest non-profit providers of education in Pakistan, TCF operates more than a thousand schools, reaching more than 175,000 children in urban slums and poor rural areas. Its model for affordable, quality education has proven to eliminate the barriers of class and privilege. TCF encourages female enrollment and strives to maintain 1:1 ratio of boys and girls in most of its campuses. TCF has a full female faculty of more than 10,000 teachers. TCF schools are located in the most marginalized, low-income, and often conflict-prone neighborhoods of the country.

Grants in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2023 from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported operation costs for the TCF School – Cultures of Resistance Campus in Balochistan.

Grants in 2016 and 2017 from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported the construction of a TCF primary school in Balochistan, one of Pakistan’s poorest and most strife-ridden provinces. The school became operational in April 2017.

In addition to support from the Cultures of Resistance Network, director iara lee arranged a grant from a partner organization in 2022 which supported operating costs at the Cultures of Resistance Campus in Balochistan and 35 scholarships for girls.
