Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF)

For more than three decades, the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) has been fighting to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system. Founded in 1979 by attorneys active in shaping the emerging field of animal law, ALDF has blazed the trail for stronger enforcement of anti-cruelty laws and more humane treatment of animals in every corner of American life. Today, ALDF’s groundbreaking efforts to push the US legal system to end the suffering of abused animals are supported by hundreds of dedicated attorneys and more than 100,000 members.

A 2021 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported ALDF’s litigation against factory farms.

A 2017 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported ALDF’s efforts to push the US legal system to end the suffering of abused animals.

A grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network helped support ALDF’s general operations.

In addition to support from the Cultures of Resistance Network, director iara lee arranged two outside grant for the ALDF in 2022, the first to support the group’s factory farming campaign and the second to support their project to map Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO) runoff.
