Palestinian Mobile Cinema (PMC) (via Synergos)

The Palestinian Mobile Cinema (PMC), a project of the Palestinian Social Cinema Arts Assocation, was established in 2008 to address the cultural decline in Palestine and to offer residents the chance to enjoy Palestinian and international movies. Given decades of military occupation, violence, poverty, and general hopelessness, cultural expression plays a critical role in maintaining the psycho-social health of social groups within Palestine. PMC uses film to promote and strengthen communities’ national identity and to foster both cultural and social diversity. Furthermore, the PMC operates as an example of nonviolent resistance to occupation and hopes to inspire the use of cultural expression to empower communities throughout Palestine.

A 2012 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network enabled PMC to purchase a car. Synergos served as a fiscal sponsor for this grant.
