Kurdish American Youth Organization (KAYO) is an independent, nonprofit youth organization. KAYO helps build and strengthen bonds between young Kurdish-Americans, raises awareness of the Kurdish nation, and builds positive relations with communities across the United States.
Support from the Cultures of Resistance Network went towards the production of “The Legend of the Ugly King,” a film about cult Kurdish director Yilmaz Güney.

Nobel Peace Prize-nominee Dr. Sima Samar founded the Gawharshad Institute of Higher Education (GIHE) with the aim of providing affordable, top-notch higher education to young Afghan women. GIHE believes that by creating space for young female students, it can help make a significant difference in the long-term situation of women in Afghanistan. Since its establishment, GIHE has enrolled hundreds of students in its Political Science, Law, and Economics & Management departments and has the highest proportion of female students of any university in Afghanistan.GIHE is a multi-year grantee.
