Puppies Behind Bars trains prison inmates to raise service dogs for wounded war veterans and for first responders, as well as explosive-detection canines for law enforcement. The dogs live in prison with their inmate puppy-raisers from the age of 8 weeks to 28 months. As the puppies mature into well-loved, well-behaved working dogs, their raisers learn what it means to give back to society.

Save the Chimps (STC), located in Florida, is the largest privately funded chimpanzee sanctuary in the world. Cofounded by renowned primatologist Dr. Carole Noon and founder and president of the Arcus Foundation, Jon Stryker, STC’s mission is to provide sanctuary and exemplary care to chimpanzees in need.

Virunga National Park is Africa’s oldest national park and a World Heritage site. It is home to all of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s critically endangered mountain gorillas, as well as important populations of chimpanzees, elephants, and other wildlife. Virunga has been at the center of the DRC’s civil wars for decades, threatened by armed militias and foreign corporate interests intent on destroying the park for profit. The ongoing conflict decimated the mountain gorilla population and caused serious economic damage to the park’s surrounding communities.
