A New Legal Vision for River Protection

08/03/2026 – What if a river had legal rights? Despite Brazil’s strong environmental laws, weak enforcement continues to leave rivers like the Tapajós vulnerable to destructive development. Over the past 18 months, our friends at International Rivers worked with Indigenous communities to develop new legal protections for the Arapiuns River, advancing a proposal that would recognize the river as a subject of rights. By combining community leadership with innovative legal reform, the initiative aims to create stronger tools to challenge mining, dredging, and other harmful infrastructure projects while protecting biodiversity, traditional livelihoods, and the river itself.

Defending the World’s Last Uncontacted Peoples

07/02/2026 – Did you know that 196 uncontacted Indigenous groups live across 10 countries, protecting some of the most biodiverse regions on Earth? Yet extractive industries continue to push into their territories—putting nearly half of these groups at risk of disappearing within the next decade.

That’s why we stand with Survival International, an organization dedicated to defending Indigenous peoples’ rights and protecting their lands. For example, they are working with communities like the Indigenous Yanomami in Brazil to secure additional radios to strengthen communication between villages, improve territorial monitoring, and coordinate protection of their forest.

Indigenous peoples are on the frontlines of planetary protection—and they need our solidarity now more than ever.

MSF Continues to Deliver Lifesaving Care

06/15/2026 – Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)— also known as Doctors Without Borders — continues to show what frontline medical care really looks like across the Global South. Working in some of the toughest conditions, their teams provide emergency healthcare where systems are stretched or broken, from conflict zones to areas hit by disease outbreaks and displacement.

In places like Sudan, MSF is delivering lifesaving care amid ongoing conflict, supporting hospitals, treating wounded patients, and responding to massive displacement. In Nigeria, they’re tackling everything from malnutrition and maternal health to infectious diseases, often in hard-to-reach regions with limited infrastructure.

Literacy is not just about reading and writing. It is about expanding access, building confidence, and strengthening people’s ability to participate fully in community life. At NEDUC, literacy education helps adults become more self-sufficient, and participate more fully in community life.

Vendor’s Rights in Brazil

04/15/2026 – In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, MUCA (Movimento Unido dos Camelôs) has spent more than two decades organizing street vendors to defend their right to work with dignity. Founded by street vendors in 2003, the movement mobilizes against evictions, violent police operations, and the daily abuses faced by informal workers across the city. By building collective power, MUCA fights for the livelihoods of vendors and the families who depend on street commerce.

A Major Win for Animal Welfare

03/04/2026 – After a year of global campaigning led by our friends at Animal Equality, Ahold Delhaize, one of the world’s largest grocery retailers, has committed to shifting away from cages in its U.S. supply chain.

This means millions of hens and pigs will no longer be confined in cages, a significant step away from one of the most cruel and outdated practices in industrial farming.

This victory came after months of organizing in dozens of cities around the world. Activists faced arrests and even assaults during the campaign—but never backed down. The result is one of the biggest wins for animal protection the movement has seen. We are proud to support Animal Equality.

Tackling Gender-Based Violence in the DRC

01/10/2026 – In Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo, ongoing occupation and armed violence have deepened economic hardship, disrupted children’s education, and sharply increased the risk of gender-based violence for women and girls. Mass displacement and instability have left many families struggling to survive.

Strengthening women’s livelihoods is critical to protecting families and reducing harm.

Our friends at Solidarité Féminine pour la Paix et le Développement Intégral (SOFEPADI) are raising funds to provide direct support to women and girls, helping them start income-generating activities and regain stability.
