12/15/2025 – Our friends at Refugees International are urging the U.S. Congress to halt all weapons sales to the United Arab Emirates because of its direct support for the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan. The UAE has been providing weapons, money, and diplomatic backing to the RSF, which is carrying out genocide in Darfur. As the war in Sudan worsens, the UAE’s support is helping fuel mass killings, displacement, and the suffering of millions. Congress must act to stop the flow of U.S. weapons and send a clear message that enabling these abuses is unacceptable. Refugees International is calling for accountability and urgent protection for the people of Sudan.

12/01/2025 – Acid attacks against women and girls are a brutal form of gender-based violence in which perpetrators use corrosive chemicals to cause permanent injury and long-term suffering.These attacks often occur after refusals of marriage, resistance to harassment, or other attempts by victims to assert autonomy. The Chhanv Foundation, a non-profit organization based in India, works with survivors to rebuild their lives by providing long-term medical care, legal support, education, and employment opportunities.

11/15/2025 – In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), nearly 8 million people have been displaced and more than 100,000 cases of sexual and gender-based violence reported between January and July 2025. Our friends at Panzi Hospital are responding to the escalating conflict and humanitarian emergency in the DRC by strengthening its One Stop Centers, where sexual assault survivors can access medical, psychosocial, legal, and socioeconomic support all under one roof. Beyond Panzi Hospital in Bukavu, the Panzi Foundation also operates centers in Mulamba, Bulenga, and Kinshasa, ensuring holistic care reaches survivors across rural and urban communities.

But today, their water sources—and their survival—are under threat from logging, development, and climate change. Drought is devastating the canyonlands. That’s why the Rarámuri have identified access to clean water as their greatest need.

With support from our friends at Copper Canyon Alliance, Rarámuri communities are building concrete reservoirs and rainwater catchment systems to sustain their farms and villages.

9/15/2025 – This summer, our friends at the Associação Rede de Sementes do Xingu launched a youth program to help young people effectively share how native seeds restore forests and strengthen communities across the Amazon. Check out this video that the participants in the program made about their experiences!

Sementes do Xingu is Brazil’s largest native seed network, led mostly by Indigenous women and family farmers in Mato Grosso, a state in Central-West Brazil. The network restores forests through the collection and exchange of native seeds.

9/02/2025 – Did you know that every year, nearly 10 billion animals are raised and killed in the U.S. by just a few giant factory farming corporations—an industry that is both cruel and wantonly destructive to the environment? The animal agriculture industry alone contributes 37% of all U.S. methane emissions, contributing significantly to the global climate crisis.

In April, our friends at the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) took on agribusiness giant Foster Poultry Farms over alleged excessive water use in the slaughter and processing of chickens at its Livingston, CA plant—the largest chicken-processing facility on the West Coast. Foster Poultry Farms employed a pool of electrified water to paralyze the chickens, a method that still left them conscious and capable of feeling pain. Because the birds were paralyzed and not fully unconscious, vomit and feces often needed to be washed off afterward, further increasing water use. After reaching a settlement, Foster Poultry Farms has agreed to improve water conservation and animal welfare. The new requirements will boost water conservation in a severely over-drafted basin and improve conditions for the millions of chickens slaughtered there each year.
