The Socotra Society for the Conservation of Endangered Flora (SSCEF) is an NGO is to help conserve the endangered flora and fauna in the Socotra Archipelago. The Socotra Archipelago is a set of islands and islets in the northwest Indian Ocean near the Gulf of Aden. It has a distinct biodiversity — 37% of Socotra’s 825 plant species, 90% of its reptile species and 95% of its land snail species do not occur anywhere else in the world.
SSCEF works to improve conservation of Socotra flora and fauna through connecting Socotra with scientists, local and international organizations, young, local communities and other stakeholders who deal with different aspects of endangered flora and fauna conservation. They also work to support the indigenous people on Socotra island in conserving and rehabilitating endangered flora on their private lands and in home gardens.
