Independent Activists of Save Sundarbans

Activists are making a short documentary that will assist and contribute to the ongoing Save Sundarbans campaign. The campaign aims to block the construction of the Rampal coal-based power plant in Bangladesh. The goal of this ongoing activity is to build a perspective that not only cares for the Sundarbans but also for the overall environmental integrity of the nation. In the process of creating large development projects, farmers, villagers, laborers, poor communities, rivers, and fertile land have been considered collateral damage by the state. Against the backdrop of this flawed understanding of development and such disregard towards the preservation of the environment, the activists hope to challenge the idea that development does not need to preserve environmental integrity. They believe that it is important to work towards creating a mindset that takes into consideration the value and wealth that the environment has to offer to a developing nation like Bangladesh.
