Instituto Kairós is a non-profit based in São Sebastião das Águas Claras, Brazil that seeks to promote a socially equitable, culturally diverse and environmentally balanced world. For 15 years, they have worked to support development and sustainability in Brazil. They have received over twenty national awards for their programming.
Instituto Kairós operates multiple physical centers which provide a variety of resources from educational classes to garden and workshop spaces. Their center in Macacos, for example, offers a medicinal garden, a seedling nursery, a beekeeping area and a fertilizer production station.
Instituto Kairós’ educational offerings across their various centers has included courses on entrepreneurship and self-management, cooking, forestry, crafts and other related areas. Their workshops have also taught families in vulnerable communities to how to better plant food in order to reach food sovereignty.
