AlarmPhone

AlarmPhone is a phone hotline that people in distress can call when trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea. Since October 2014, AlarmPhone has worked on over 2,500 emergency cases. It believes in the freedom of movement for all and does not ask for reasons for flight. People who get on overcrowded boats and risk their lives have good reasons. As a large transborder network, AlarmPhone opposes how more and more borders are being created all around us and supports those who enact their freedom of movement by crossing them. It also documents all the cases to denounce the violent border regime that separates human beings from one another in the name of a privileged few in the global north. Together, AlarmPhone’s participants commemorate the dead and form a political voice that calls for safe passages and the freedom of movement for all.
