Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space

The Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space was founded in 1992 by the joint efforts of the Florida Coalition for Peace & Justice, Citizens for Peace in Space, and New York-based journalism professor Karl Grossman. Since its creation, the Network has brought together peace and environmental activists to contest the increasing weaponization of space.

Through annual meetings, demonstrations, written articles and newsletter, the Network continues to bring greater attention to the implications of a militarized outer space. Since 2008 the Global Network has supported Gangjeong villagers on Jeju Island, South Korea, who are nonviolently resisting the construction of a naval base that will port U.S. warships.

The Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space is a multi-year grantee. Support from the Cultures of Resistance Network in 2011 and 2012 contributed to the Network's general operations.
