Home Groups We Support Caritas Jordan

Caritas Jordan

Caritas Jordan is a humanitarian non-governmental organization that is affiliated with the Catholic Church. It was established in 1967 as a result of the June war and in response to the humanitarian needs that emerged from the wars and the displacement of the Palestinian people to Jordan. The organization aims to convey a message of love to the poor and needy through the good work of groups and individuals. Since its establishment, it has worked on combating poverty and sustaining social development for Jordanian society.

A 2015 grant from the Cultures of Resistance Network supported a project that provided academic and psychosocial support to 300 Iraqi children. All refugee children in the program were provided with daily transportation to and from school, as well as school materials, uniforms, and lunch. All teachers in the program were specially trained in supporting the unique needs of refugee children. Additionally, the children were provided with psychosocial support by trained counselors, including recreational and therapeutic arts activities. The project also allowed Caritas to procure playgrounds that benefit both the refugees and the Jordanians.
