BDS Conference Montreal

The Boycott, Divesments, and Sanctions (BDS) 2010 Conference took place from October 22 to 24, 2010, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The conference featured three days of educational workshops, public events including a hip hop concert, and strategy sessions aimed at consolidating and building the Québécois, Canadian, and North American contribution to the international movement for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) against Israeli apartheid.

Invited presenters included Omar Barghouti (Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel), Sidumo Dlamini and Bongani Masuku (Congress of South African Trade Unions), Faiha Abdelhadi (feminist activist and scholar, Birzeit University, Palestine), Areej Ja’fari (Palestine Freedom Project), and Invincible (hip hop artist, Detroit), as well as representatives of BDS France, Canadian Union of Public Employees, Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid (Canada), Free Gaza Movement (England), Jewish Voice for Peace (USA), Stop the Wall Campaign (Palestine), Québec Women’s Federation (Canada), and Women’s Coalition for Peace (Israel).

A 2010 grant from the CoR Network supported the travel costs of three international guests to the conference. WESPAC served as a fiscal sponsor for this grant.
